1956 – United Nations Security Council
The year is 1956. In Eastern Europe a group
of students march toward the parliament in Budapest, Hungary.
The main objective was to overthrow the former government of Hungary,
controlled by the Soviet Union. The conflict escalates into a
civl war and brings other actors until it comes to the Security
Council of the United Nations.
In Africa, the first president of Egypt, Gamal Abdul Nasser, nationalizes
the Canal, a former partnership between Egypt and Great Britain.
The dispute escalates into war with two coalitions supporting
or fighting against Egypt. The Security Council was also called
into action, in order to find a peaceful solution.
Therefore, the 11 members of the Security Council of the United
Nations where called into action when the conflicts have reached
their turmoil: November 2nd, 1956.
